BBC Radio Scotland presenter to open Tidelines book festival in Ayrshire

The highly anticipated Tidelines book festival is set to make its return to Irvine this weekend.Top authors will hold talks on their latest works with fans from Friday, September 23 to Sunday 25 at the Harbour Arts Centre.

Kicking off the event on Friday will be author Stuart Cosgrove who is excited to share his views on the links between black music and American politics which influenced his latest read Hey America!The BBC Radio Scotland co-host of Off the Ball will be interviewed by Ayrshire writer David Ross, and the evening will include music from incredible breakthrough Jazz musician Kitti, winner of the Scottish Jazz Awards Best Vocalist 2020.Kids are welcome to the event with fun storytelling and drama workshops based on beloved characters Paddington and The BFG planned for two- nine-year-olds across the weekend.Afternoons will showcase some of Scotland’s most exciting non-fiction writing, with appearances from Leonie Charlton, Catherine Simpson, Iain Cameron, Clare Hunter and Jennifer Morag Henderson.Up for discussion will be the incredible snow tunnels in the Highlands, a fresh look at the myths around Mary Queen of Scots, the joys of the menopause rollercoaster and a poetic travel memoir across the Hebridean Islands with highland ponies.But the evenings are reserved for love and free cocktails...

Romantic fiction author and international bestseller Jenny Colgan will be chatting with romcom fans on her latest book 'An Island Wedding'.Also on Saturday night Tracy Patrick, Michael Malone and Morven Gow and David McLaughlan to talk about love's many forms, from romantic love to love of sport to love for family, even love of food.The evening will include a free love-themed cocktail/mocktail provided by Duncans Bar &
