The 54-year-old actress, who graced the screens of EastEnders for 13 years before departing in 2017, took to social media to update her followers on her health journey.

In the heartfelt snapshot shared on X - formerly known as Twitter - Laurie was pictured in a hospital gown, clutching a cuddly rabbit toy to her shoulder.

Alongside the photo, she emphasised the importance of protecting and supporting the NHS, thanking the staff at Whittington Hospital for their care during her post-operation recovery. "We have to ring fence & protect our @NHSEngland #whittingtonhospital from any politics.
