Average house price in the UK tops quarter of a million pounds for first time ever

The average price of a home in the UK has surpassed a quarter of a million pounds for the first time in history. According to Nationwide's latest house price index, the standard price of a UK property now sits at £250,311.

The building society said that house prices rose by 0.7% in October alone, and are up 9.9% compared to this time last year. Nationwide also reported that the average property price has gone up by more than £30k since the coronavirus pandemic began back in March 2020.
