ANTIQUES Roadshow fans were left gobsmacked after two guests brought an incredible moment of history onto the BBC show. Fiona Bruce hosted the episode, held at Porchester Castle, Hampshire, and we were introduced to two siblings with a very valuable letter.
Antiques expert Hilary Kay spoke to the son and daughter of Sidney Daniels, a survivor of the Titanic. Sidney worked as a plate washer on the famous ship, aged only 18, and managed to survive the disaster.
The guests' late father managed to keep a letter with him, which had been water damaged but was still readable. The letter astounded Hilary, who called it "an extraordinary momentum". She added that "anything relating to the Titanic had an extraordinary effect on people.
