Some Bee Bike stations will be closed for a month to ‘address issues with bike availability’. Bee Bikes, officially called Starling Bank Bikes, are the bicycles available for short-term-hire from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
A key pillar of the mayor’s Bee Network integrated public transport system, they cover Manchester city centre, and parts of Trafford and Salford.
But the bikes have been plagued by anti-social behaviour recently, TfGM managers have said, prompting the closures. This is a precautionary measure to help improve bike availability for all customers,” explained Iain Baxter, Starling Bank Bike hire manager. “Getting more bikes available is our top priority and we are working alongside both the operator Beryl and Greater Manchester Police to recover any missing or damaged bikes quickly and get the stations re-opened as soon as possible.
