'Crucible', a new free-to-play sci-fi game developed by Amazon, is out this week. Available from Wednesday, May 20, the game has drawn comparisons with fellow Battle Royale-style title 'Fortnite' both for it's gameplay and it's 'free-to-play' classification.

Having first been announced at 'Twitchcon' in 2014, there's been plenty of time for the Crucible hype to build. Exclusive to PC, the game marks the first of it's kind from the Amazon Games Studio who, previously, have focused mostly on mobile and tablet game releases through the Android App Store.

Three game modes will be available upon launch - 'Heart of the Hives', 'Harvester Commander' and 'Alpha Hunters' - which range from 4x4 to 8x8 last-man-standing battles.
