Amazon shoppers have been urged to delete a scam email that is so convincing it's hard not to be fooled. Security experts at Avanan spotted the new bogus emails claiming to be from the online retailer in the run-up to Black Friday 2021 and the Christmas shopping period.
The sinister trick begins with an official-looking email from Amazon, claiming an order has been received and a payment confirmed.
Fraudsters make sure the invoice is for an expensive item so that customers who receive the email will raise concern.The email also contains a link that goes directly to Amazon's website.Worried customers who are unable to cancel the order are then told to call the number in the email - which has nothing to do with Amazon, and goes through to
