The century-old, volunteer-run theatre has announced a wonderful programme of shows for its autumn and winter season this year, from beloved musical classics such as The Sound of Music, to home-grown Garrick productions like the powerful women-centred story Blue Stockings.

September 19-24, 2022 By Alan Bennett and directed by John Cunningham, this multi-layered masterpiece explores friendship, rivalry and heartache, alongside the joy, pain and emotional cost of creativity.
In The Habit of Art, actors are rehearsing a play called Caliban's Day about Benjamin Britten, who is sailing uncomfortably close to the wind with his new opera and seeking advice from his former collaborator and friend, W H Auden.
During this imagined meeting in 1972, their first in 25 years, they are observed and interrupted by their future biographer and a young man from the local bus station, amongst others.
