Alison Hammond is reportedly in final talks with ITV about taking over one of the channel's best loved shows, For the Love of Dogs. The programme, which is centred around the running of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London first aired in 2012, was presented by the late, great Paul O'Grady until his untimely death last year.
Now, five months on from the last episode, it's been rumoured that ITV executives want to bring back the show in Paul's honour - and because it's always been a huge hit with viewers.
But in terms of who will succeed Paul, they've reportedly said that the This Morning star would be the "perfect custodian" of the show.
At this moment, Alison's takeover of For the Love of Dogs has yet to be confirmed. However, a source told The Mirror that while Paul is obviously irreplaceable, ITV believes that Alison will bring some of the late presenter's "trademark self-deprecating humour to proceedings." Plus, that she'll be able to make the show her own, just like Paul did.
