Jim Goodwin has revealed Aberdeen are in the market to replace Columbus Crew-bound Christian Ramirez. The Dons boss was looking to bring in another defender but is now in the search for a centre forward, with Ramirez having flown back to America to seal his exit.
Goodwin has already brought in Graeme Shinnie and Patrik Myslovic in this window, as he looks to bolster a side that is fighting for a European return.
The Irishman stated: “We will try to strengthen as best we can between now and the window closing. We have done some really good business already with Shinnie and Myslovic.” The Aberdeen boss didn’t always see eye-to-eye with Ramirez but has praised the former US cap’s professionalism since he returned for pre-season.
Ramirez was a key player under Stephen Glass and was left devastated when his former manager was sacked. It led to an uneasy opening relationship with Goodwin, who sent him home before the end of last season to refocus. “Christian has been brilliant since I came to the club,” the Aberdeen boss confirmed. “He has been a top professional since the summer since coming back for pre-season.
