Zinedine Zidane continued to be linked with the role, having departed Santiago Bernabeu last summer for a second time after returning to steady the ship.
However, Spanish publication El Partidazo de Cope report that Zidane has twice turned down the opportunity, and for three reasons.
Firstly and secondly, Zidane is concerned his lack of English would see him struggle at Old Trafford, while his wife is not keen on the move.
