Woman dies following Barrhead fire

An elderly resident of a sheltered housing complex in Barrhead has died following a devastating fire . The Paisley Daily Express reported last week that a 79-year-old had been hospitalised on Thursday following the blaze in the town’s Main Street.

Police have now revealed that she tragically died on Friday. Confirming the news, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a fire at a premises on Main Street, Barrhead, around 4pm on Thursday, April 25, 2024. “Emergency services attended and a 79-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where she died on Friday, April 26, 2024.

Her next of kin are aware."Enquiries are ongoing, however the fire is not being treated as wilful.
