Woman cut from car and taken to hospital after horror crash

A woman was cut from her car and taken to hospital following a crash in Oldham. Emergency services responded to the incident in Oldham Road, Grotton, shortly before 11am today.

The smash involved a van and a car and resulted in the latter vehicle landing on its side. A woman in her 50s was taken to hospital after firefighters cut her free from the car.

The extent of her injuries are not yet known. Pictures from the scene showed a badly damaged red Peugeot car which appeared to have had its roof cut off. Following the incident, the road was closed in both directions for a short period of time. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters responded to a road traffic collision on Oldham Road in Grotton just before 11am.
