A young couple who spent thousands fitting their new 1920s themed bar say they are staying positive despite the pandemic delaying its opening.Curtis Whitty, 22, and Chris Tomlinson, 24, took over an old bookmakers on Market Street, Atherton, in August and have been using the time to redesign the building into a bar.But, after three different attempts to officially open The Plaza, the pair have found themselves waiting for the end of another lockdown.Curtis, who used to work as the manager of two other local bars, says around £70,000 has been spent on decorating the interior and exterior the building, including new art deco furniture, a quartz bar top and two chandeliers.While the work was underway, the original ceiling of the building was.
