Traffic lights across the city centre have been changed to give older people more time to cross the road - and the same could happen across Greater Manchester.
A pilot scheme launched by transport bosses means the green light for pedestrians shows more regularly and for longer at nearly 50 crossings.
If the trial is successful and there aren't significant objections, it could be rolled out across Greater Manchester. Currently, Department for Transport guidelines mean crossing times work on the premise that people travel at 1.2 metres per second.
