William Daniels played an essential role as Mr. Feeny in the classic sit-com Boy Meets World.
However, that almost wasn’t the case. The 95-year-old actor who also starred in the likes of St. Elsewhere and Knight Rider told ET that he wasn’t interested in taking on a role in a sit-com when the offer came through. There was another reason William Daniels was initially hesitant to take the role.
Read on to learn what it was… Making matters worse, he wasn’t fond of the character’s name. “I said it was a funny name, Feeny,” William said. “I thought it was gonna make fun of teachers and I didn’t like that whole idea.” His wife Bonnie Bartlett, who also joined the cast, convinced him to take the role.
However, William quit the job during a reading session. Why? He wasn’t moved by the script. William wound up staying with the show from 1993 through 2000 and even returned for a handful of episodes of the reboot Girl Meets World.
