Convicted killer Charles Sobhraj has spent almost half of his life in prison. The French national was accused of committing a trail of robberies and scams in his 20s, which led to him being imprisoned in Afghanistan.
Following a shocking jailbreak, Sobhraj's crimes escalated, and he was later convicted and imprisoned for two killings. Back in 1977, the now 79-year-old man allegedly confessed to 10 more murders - but later reportedly withdrew his confession.
However, Sobhraj admitted to drugging and theft in more than 100 cases. Born in Vietnam in 1944, Sobhraj was able to claim French citizenship as Saigon - now Ho Chi Minh City - was a colony at the time.
