WhatsApp 's current video chat service is to undergo a major update which will allow users to seamlessly join calls, the social media app has announced.

Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Meta which owns WhatsApp, shared in a Facebook post: "We're rolling out call links on WhatsApp starting this week, so you can share a link to start a call with a single tap." The messaging app's current calling method is similar to standard phones - but call links will make it more comparable to other popular video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

Users can simply select the "create link" button in within the calls tab, which will create a sharable link to send to others to connect.

This can be used for both scheduled and instant calls. The feature will be instantly included in the app's next software update.
