WGA Reaches Tentative Deal With AMPTP To End Almost 150 Day Writers Strike

The WGA and AMPTP have reached a deal! In the report from Variety, the outlet states that the parties have come to a tentative deal for a three-year contract, which will end the writers strike that has lasted for 146 days. The new fine print of the contract reportedly includes rules and provisions for just how generative AI in content production can and will be used.

Following the new contract being written up, WGA members will have to vote for ratification. The news of the likely writers strike ending comes after the studios presented their “best and final” offer on Saturday night (September 23).

Variety and other major trade paper outlets also report that since the WGA Strike seems to be coming to an end, it could be followed by the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike as well.
