Of course The Father dealt with one elderly man’s devastating descent into dimentia and the effect that had on his family, and it was an intimate film production for Zeller, largely taking place in the man’s apartment, yet still managed to be cinematic despite its stage origins.

The Oscar winner said she got pregnant in her early 20s and “had a miscarriage alone in Montreal” before she could get an intended abortion. Lawrence got pregnant again during the filming of Adam McKay’s Netflix comedy “Don’t Look Up” and suffered a second miscarriage. She then had to undergo a surgical procedure to remove tissue from her uterus. Lawrence revealed the miscarriages while discussing her furor over the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. The actor’s home state of Kentucky banned abortions after the ruling, which increased a rift in Lawrence’s Republican family that started when Donald Trump became president. Lawrence was able to have a child because of a medical procedure, and she expressed outrage over the fact that young girls across America now face limited options.

That was all I could think after watching his work in Martin McDonagh’s latest dark comedy. And who would have thought that Farrell and Brendan Gleeson would become the perfect comedic duo of our day? I thought the pair’s magic in “In Bruges” (2008) was a one-hit wonder, but with “The Banshees of Inisherin,” the two men have recaptured their old alchemy. The latest pitch black romp from “Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri” director and scribe McDonagh harnesses the simplest premise in recent memory: a man tries to understand why his best friend doesn’t want to talk to him anymore. What unfolds within that premise are moral complexities and refreshing takes on love and forgiveness.

Adele has won her first Emmy, picking up the prize for a TV concert special that was broadcast ahead of the release of her latest album. One Night Only won the Emmy for best outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) at the Creative Emmy Awards on Sunday night, held ahead of the main Primetime Emmys ceremony next week.

Adele can add “Emmy winner” to her list of accomplishments.

Liza Minnelli shocked fans as she walked out of a Hollywood eatery Thursday evening after concerns that she was wheelchair-bound.  The actress was all smiles and chatted with photographers as two men from her entourage helped her walk to the car after a late dinner at upscale restaurant Craig's. The 76-year-old icon has only been seen in a wheelchair recently, and even appeared seated in the chair on the Oscars stage earlier this year alongside Lady Gaga.

Though you might think Midnight Cowboy’s main claim to fame is one of the most famous improvised lines in screen history (“I’m walkin’ here!”), Nancy Buirski’s fascinating and really quite hypnotic documentary will introduce more thoughts and perspectives on a truly underrated Hollywood milestone. Directed by John Schlesinger in 1969, Buirski’s subject film has the rare distinction of being the only X-rated movie to win the Best Picture Oscar, although that claim is put to the test here, opening up a whole other can of worms in the process.

Chris Rock has revealed that he was offered an opportunity to host the Oscars once again for 2023.

Naman Ramachandran Guy Davidi, known for Sundance and Emmy winning and Oscar nominated documentary “Five Broken Cameras,” is Venice bound with his next film “Innocence.” The film, which is in the festival’s Horizons strand, the only documentary selected in the section, tells the story of children who were unwillingly enlisted into the Israel military service, and many of them died. Through a narration based on their diaries, the film depicts their inner turmoil and interweaves first-hand military images, key moments from childhood until enlistment and home videos of the deceased soldiers. “Nothing touches me more than a child’s sensitivity when they discover the world, and nothing hurts me more than seeing it getting crushed. Israel is not a place that values innocence. Its militarized identity requires the breaking down and distorting of the gentle lines of childhood. This commitment to violence has many victims, but there’s also a hidden tragedy – the collapse of parenthood,” says Davidi in his director’s note on the film, which has been 10 years in the making.

Months after Will Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards in March, the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" alum appears to be feeling more optimistic. "Will is feeling much more confident and much more positive and less depressed," a source tells "Entertainment Tonight." "He was in very low spirits prior to making his public apology," the source continued.
