As a heatwave grips the nation, there’s no sign of temperatures easing over the weekend in Greater Manchester with Saturday evening expected to be a sizzling 32C.

Throughout the week, conditions have become hotter and drier with no respite from the wall to wall sunshine. An amber warning for extreme heat remains in place for large parts of England Wales until midnight on Sunday.

It warns that the heat poses a health risk, particularly for those who are vulnerable, as well as having an impact on travel and an increased risk of water safety and fire-related incidents.

According to the Met Office, conditions will stay hot and stuffy throughout Saturday evening and into the night in Manchester, with temperatures only dropping below 30C at 8pm.
