South Ayrshire carers should be tested for Covid-19, the council’s depute leader has said. Councillor Brian McGinley called for hundreds of carers looking after those most at risk of coronavirus in the area to be tested.The local Labour leader wants all health and social care staff to undergo tests and said the Scottish Government should accelerate the roll-out of them to more people.

He said: “We need to know who has it and who hasn’t."There are people self isolating and they don’t need to be.
