Warning over supplement use as vitamin levels could cause high cholesterol

Taking certain supplements could actually be damaging your health, according to research. Millions of us include taking vitamins as part of our daily routine.

However, some pills could actually be doing the opposite of keeping us fit and healthy by increasing "bad" cholesterol levels, reports The Express.

The belief that all supplements are safe has often been doubted during recent years with studies taking a deep dive into their health benefits compared to dangers.

Vitamin E, C, and beta-carotene, however, have been found to increase levels of harmful cholesterol in one study. The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, found that vitamins including E, C, and beta carotene, may thwart the liver’s ability to break down bad cholesterol.
