"For me, I wasn't on [the land] long," she said. "I was the fifth child and we moved soon after I was born."Viola wasn't aware of the history of the land when she was young, but she went back several times to visit her grandmother."I think I read one slave narrative of someone who was on that plantation, which was horrific," she said.
