Rishi Sunak has announced a change to the Universal Credit taper rate, which will allow claimants who work to keep a bigger chunk of their money.
The chancellor announced the move during his Autumn Budget statement in the House of Commons this afternoon. Mr Sunak had been under considerable pressure from MPs and charities to support families on benefits after ministers scrapped the £20 weekly Universal Credit uplift at the start of this month.
