Hamilton Accies star Vic Wardrop, who passed away last month aged 74. Wardrop, who lived in Hamilton, played as a wing-half with the Douglas Park club for two years from 1966 to 1968, having signed from Lesmahagow.
He was released in 1968 and returned to the junior game with Larkhall Thistle, and later Stonehouse Violet in 1970. Latterly he played for amateur side Avon Villa.He leaves his widow Catrina, grand-daughter Terri Daly and great-granddaughter Katey.Vic, who worked in a number of professions including steelworks and the dairy trade, was described as a real family man, and essentially raised his grand-daughter Terri.Catrina Wardrop said: “He was the type of person who would just say things – whatever he thought just came out his.
