A Tory MP has had the party whip suspended as an investigation was launched into allegations he drunkenly groped two men at a club.

Chris Pincher dramatically quit as Conservative Party deputy chief whip on Thursday night after an incident in which he said he had 'darnk too much' and 'embarrassed myself and other people.' It followed allegations first reported in The Sun that he had assaulted two fellow guests at a London private members’ club. I’ve embarrassed myself and other people which is the last thing I want to do and for that I apologise to you and to those concerned. “I think the right thing to do in the circumstances is for me to resign as deputy chief whip.

I owe it to you and the people I’ve caused upset to, to do this." Boris Johnson had been resisting calls to go further and remove the whip, meaning the Tamworth MP would sit as an independent in the Commons.
