Sir Tom Jones suffered the "ultimate humiliation" in his marriage with late wife Linda as he tried to make it as a singer. The legendary It's Not Unusual hitmaker moved to London from Wales when he was performing as part of Tommy Scott and the Senators.
Despite The Voice star's popularity back home, he found himself living in a flat with his bandmates. Managing to secure a record contract having changed his stage name to Tom Jones, his initial single Chills and Fever failed to make the charts.
In his book, Over the Top and Back, Tom says it left his pride "wounded" as bosses "weren't exactly banging the doors down" for another track. Sir Tom hoped to send money back home to support his wife Linda Trenchard and son Mark Jones in South Wales, but with funds still tight, Gordon refused, resulting in Linda taking a part-time job.
