Three more Ayrshire pensioners conned out of thousands in 'despicable' telephone scam

An further three Ayrshire pensioners have been conned out of cash as a result of a 'fake police' phone call scam.Cops are still on the hunt for fraudsters who have been targeting the elderly with bogus calls asking them to withdraw four-figure sums of cash from their bank warning them of fraudulent activity on their accountThe scammers impersonate a police or the bank and are asking victims to hand the withdrawn cash over to a police officer.Last week police in Ayrshire revealed three pensioners two men and a woman had been targeted in Ayr and Prestwick.Now the same scam has been reported in the village of Mossblown.Local banks have been put on high alert as officers are urging residents not to engage with fraudsters who are preying on the vulnerable.South Ayrshire Area Commander says the force are urgently trying track those responsible for the "despicable crimes."Chief Inspector Kevin Lammie said : “Extensive enquiries are currently ongoing at present to identify those responsible and is being treated as a matter of urgency.
