Thousands of patients sent to care homes without being Covid tested in first months of the outbreak

coronavirus outbreak in Scotland without being Covid tested.And the Public Health Scotland Report into Discharges from NHS Scotland Hospitals into Care Homes published today also showed at least 123 cases who did test positive were sent to care homes.Between March 1 and May 31 this year there were 5,204 discharges to care homes but of this number 3,061 were untested.Of that number 2,949 were discharged between March and April 21.On April 21 Health Secretary Jeane Freeman announced patients discharged to care homes should have two negative tests and should isolate for 14 days on arrival at the care home.

From April 22 the numbers discharged untested dropped to 112 up to May 31.Of Scotland’s 1,084 care homes, 843 received patients discharged.
