Thieves broke into a mosque during the Covid-19 lockdown and stole a safe containing cash. Council bosses in Bury said police patrols around places of worship would be stepped up as a result.
The Noor Ul Islam Mosque is on Yarwood Street off Rochdale Road near Bury town centre. One Bury councillor said a police investigation was ongoing with 'clear lines of enquiry'.
It's understood police are also studying CCTV footage. Photographs taken inside the mosque after the break-in appear to show a door was broken.
