'They're attacking where we're sending the victims': Police chief's 'spine went cold' over fears of secondary terror strikes at hospitals after Arena bomb

Superintendent Mark Dexter - then a chief inspector who assumed the role of ground-assigned tactical firearms commander for Greater Manchester Police on the night - said he feared there was a secondary attack in progress.

Hospital staff, Mr Dexter was told as he worked at the Arena, had 'barricaded' themselves inside the A&E department and the hospital had 'gone into lockdown'.
