On the other end of the phone, Donna Coleman was lying in an intensive care bed at Blackburn Royal Hospital, having begun to show symptoms of Covid-19 a few weeks earlier.

When the 42-year-old first tested positive for the virus her family were worried but they expected her to pull through. She was young, in good health and she had always been a fighter.
