Jodie Punshon, 17, was given the devastating news that she would likely never walk again after a tragic accident near her Ramsbottom home.

She arranged to meet a friend at Pot Green on June 19 as Covid-19 restrictions eased across the country. The pair were walking along the river path when Jodie slipped, falling around 20ft into the river below.

A crew from Bury fire station, where her dad Greg works, rushed to the scene, working alongside firefighters from Ramsbottom and Leigh.
