The roads set to benefit from £2.5m being spent on resurfacing in Trafford

Millions of pounds are set to be spent on roads in Trafford over the next five years. The borough's council executive will be asked to approve improvements to roads and bridges under the Key Route Network (KRN) highways capital works scheme when it meets next Monday (July 25).

Some £2.5 million will be spent mainly on resurfacing. This includes a section of Stretford Road; Shaftesbury Avenue - from Stockport Road to Brooklands Road; Manchester Road - from Woodlands Road to Washway Road; Washway Rd/Cross St - from Manchester Road to Stretford Road and Centenary Way from Park Way to the Salford boundary.

Structural works will cost £4.5 million and include improvements to Barton Dock Road Bridge, Trafford Moss Canal Bridge, both on Park Way, Ashton Bridge, on Carrington Lane, Crossford New Bridge and Crossford Old Bridge, on Chester Road, and Edge Lane Canal old and new bridges in Stretford. Councillor Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Environmental Services, said: “We are committed to improving highways across the borough for all road users – and that includes drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.
