Following the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth I I yesterday, at the age of 96, the country is now in mourning for the only ruling monarch most of us will have even known.
Many will be closing their businesses out of respect for the sombre occasion, and a lot of Manchester’s restaurants, bars, pubs and hotels have joined in paying tributes.
The French at the Midland Hotel said: “We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen. She faithfully served the United Kingdom & the Commonwealth over seven remarkable decades on the throne & leaves a lasting legacy.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to The Royal Family.” Over at Gary Neville’s Stock Exchange Hotel, they offered ‘our sincere condolences to the Royal Family, and people across the world, who mourn the loss of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth ll’.
