Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
Prince William and Prince Harry have put aside their differences as they walked in solidarity together behind The Queen’s coffin on her journey to Westminster Hall.The brothers, who have had a strained relationship in recent years, walked united in grief during the Queen’s procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where the coffin will now lie in state until the funeral on Monday September 19.
Dressed in a black morning suit, Harry walked alongside his older brother, who himself wore his military dress uniform as they joined their father King Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Princess Anne in the procession.
Anne’s son Peter Phillips and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence also walked behind the procession, as well as the Duke of Gloucester and the Earl of Snowdon.
The Queen Consort, the Princess of Wales, the Countess of Wessex and the Duchess of Sussex are travelling by car. Beginning at 2:22pm precisely, the procession marks one of the final legs of the Queen’s journey since her death last week.
