Readers have shared a wide range of opinions in response to the difficulties faced by young people as a result of escalating living costs.

House prices have rocketed by more than 1,000 per cent since the 1980s, with the average home then going for around £20,000 compared to today's average which now exceeds £260,000.

But not everyone empathised, with one person saying: "There are quite often a lot of younger people who generalise the older population and blame them." But some readers responded to the less favourable comments, with one saying: " For those criticising, this is about the utter craziness of house prices and the inability of the youngsters to afford to buy no matter how hard they work.
