Tesco will ban the use of non-essential plastic bags from online deliveries and its click and collect services from later this month.
The supermarket giant recently provided customers the option of having their shopping packed inside plastic bags or tray liners in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
But Tesco chiefs will now bring the scheme to an end from April 19 as it seeks to reduce its use of single-use plastics, reports Manchester Evening News.
Shopping will now instead be placed directly into trays - which will be sanitised on a regular basis. Customers using the click and collect and delivery services will now be advised to use their own bags.
