ITV bosses had no choice but to air an old episode of Loose Women after This Morning was pulled off air and replaced with a pre-recorded segment amid a "security alert".

Viewers of the popular programme were left confused on 10 March when This Morning, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, was cut and an emergency tape about tree hugging played instead of its Guess The Gadget quiz.

Once it had come to an end, instead of the usual Loose Women, where Charlene White was set to present, an old episode featuring Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter, Nadia Sawalha and Brenda Edwards began playing.

Both of the official Twitter pages for Loose Women and This Morning have since shared an identical statement on the interrupted shows.
