Lingard, a former soldier, lured a 12-year-old boy and other children back to his house where they were allowed to stay over, drink alcohol and vape.

His 'deception' involved allowing the boy's father to believe he was a parent of one of the other children. Speaking of Lingard, 38, the dad said: "He groomed and manipulated a young boy by allowing him to do things he knew were illegal for a boy of that age." Lingard had been known as someone in the area who would teach boys about nature and making dens, drawing on his experience as a soldier, a court heard.
