Stephen Robinson believes the foundation of St Mirren’s sturdy defence was laid at the end of last season. The Buddies ended their last Premiership campaign with a run of four clean sheets against St Johnstone, Dundee, Livingston and Aberdeen.
They’ve carried that momentum into this season, picking up four shutouts in their opening five home fixtures as well as keeping one on the road – a 3-0 mauling of today’s opponents Dundee United at Tannadice.
The Saints boss feels the impressive record is a result of his hard-working players buying into the principle they’re most effective as a unit, not just individual talents.Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “I think it started to take shape at the end of last season.
We had four clean sheets in the last four games. “We’ve carried that into this season. It’s nine clean sheets in 14 games altogether.
