Livingston. Welcoming competitive action to St Mirren Park for the first time in over four months, Jim Goodwin handed debuts to four players against the Lions with an almost brand new backline.

And they held the fort magnificently, with Joe Shaughnessy in particular putting in a man of the match performance while shackling danger man Lyndon Dykes.

After a cagey start to the first half, the Buddies took the lead thanks to one of St Mirren 's new recruits Richard Tait. He perfectly placed a header home from a deadly Jamie McGrath cross.

The Buddies had their fair share of defending to do, with Shaughnessy and Conor McCarthy both making some vital blocks to keep the home side ahead.And substitute Junior Morias should have put the result to bed.
