Snow forecast for Scotland as Met Office confirms 'deep freeze' to hit within days

Met Office experts have warned of “severe frost” and icy conditions across England and Wales, with snow forecast for the north of Scotland in the coming weeks.
Here is what the forecasters have to say about these reports so far.The Met Office is expecting snow to land over areas of higher ground in Scotland in the period between January 29 and February 7.Weather website WXCHARTS appears to be following this lead, with snow forecast to land in the Highlands and the north east on January 30.Around five and a half inches is expected to have landed in the north west of the country by the following day.Another blanket of the white stuff is expected more widespread on February 9, with areas of the central belt and near the border forecast to see some snow.The Met Office says that weather in the north of the UK will become unsettled from February 8.More snow is then expected in the middle of February, with wintry showers restricted to areas of high ground during this period.
Temperatures are set to dip on February 9, with WXCHARTS anticipating thermostats to plummet to lows of around -2C in the Highlands.
