A report on Sunday claimed that United are considering making an effort to sign Barkley in the summer. It was claimed in the report that Ratcliffe has identified the England international as one of the players that he could bring in to Old Trafford this summer.
Ratcliffe sanctioned the signing of Barkley for Nice from Chelsea just over a year after his failed loan move to Villa from Stamford Bridge.
Barkley only spent a season with the French club before joining Luton Town last summer.
