The sick and elderly in Paisley are being warned not to “sit in silence” as hospital attendances have plummeted due to the coronavirus crisis.

The number of people attending accident and emergency at the Royal Alexandra Hospital has fallen by almost two thirds as people with other illnesses steer clear of the NHS.Figures show admissions at the RAH in the second week of April have dropped to 426 patients, down from 1,200 in same week of March.Health bosses have made an urgent plea, reminding people they should still seek help during the Covid-19 pandemic.Health Secretary Jeane Freeman said: “While members of the public are continuing to listen to advice and only going to A&E if illnesses are immediate or life-threatening,“I do want to urge
