Residents have been left outraged over a video of young girls desecrating the grave of a baby. The footage was circulated on social media.
There are two videos from the incident, which the Manchester Evening News has seen. One shows a girl taking items from the grave of a young child and throwing an object at the headstone while laughing.
A spokesperson for Wigan Council says officers have visited the cemetery since the video was taken. They confirmed that there is ‘no physical damage’ to the headstone. Many have taken to social media to voice their displeasure of the act which has been branded as ‘disgusting and vile’. One commenter wrote: "It's absolutely vile!
