Scots baker selling more than 2000 Butteries a week after finding dad's secret recipe

Aberdeen to get hold of one of the North-East treats once described as a ‘road-kill croissant’. And online orders have also been going through the roof with customers all over the country wanting to try the fat-laden rolls.

For those not familiar with the Aberdeen speciality the notoriously unhealthy Buttery, or Rowie as they are also known, are made by folding butter and lard into a sweetened yeasted dough to create a flaky flat roll.

A popular breakfast item they are often spread with jam or even more butter before being eaten and contain around 350 calories with around 10g of fat.David Robertson Ross, stumbled across an old file in February containing the Butterie recipe that his father, Alex Ross, created in 1954 which had been hidden.
