Scotland embraced Ukrainians in a show of solidarity before the team were knocked out of the World Cup at Hampden Park. The war-torn country were bidding to reach football's most prestigious competition in Qatar, just months after they were invaded by Russia.Despite Scots knowing a home win would be a huge step towards reaching the World Cup for the first time in 24 years, the supporters stood with their on-field rivals ahead of kick off.Glasgow city centre was a sea of yellow and blue on a beautiful summer's day as supporters soaked up the atmosphere ahead of kick off.At George Square, Scotland fans enjoying some prematch pints at the Counting House in the hours before the match clapped as Ukraine supporters passed by the beer garden.Fans kitted out in Ukraine colours were then seen embracing those draped in Saltires as natives from both countries came together in unity.The delayed game was Ukraine's first competitive match since Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of the country back in February.Originally scheduled for March, the match was rearranged due to the ongoing conflict and around 3,500 away supporters were inside Hampden for the crunch match.Considering the magnitude of the match and what was at stake, the showing of respect between the two sides was quite unlike anything ever seen before.At Kelvingrove Art Gallery, The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland played the national anthem ahead of the play-off, as a sign of musical friendship to the Ukrainian people.Meanwhile, outside the stadium, a group from the Scottish Football Supporters Association, and opera singer Vasyl Savenko, stood on the steps outside the stadium before kick off as they sang the Ukraine's national anthem, Shche ne vmerla Ukrainy.They
