Not quite a horror film, this sometimes freaky, often frustrating third feature from the French art-house director of twisted socialization tales “Innocence” and “Evolution” (better known in some quarters as the producer and partner of Gaspar Noé) is light on dialogue, and therefore, largely lacking in explanations for the haunting ideas in store.Hadzihalilovic is a master of atmosphere and tone, but someone not terribly interested in good, old-fashioned narrative.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday promoted Jenny Galante to a new role at AMPAS, executive vice president, Revenue and Business Development, Academy CEO Bill Kramer announced Monday.Galante, who has been with the Academy since 2013 and most recently was SVP of Business Development, will step into the newly created position and report directly to Kramer. As part of her role, Galante will drive global revenue growth for the Academy across platforms – including special events, Academy member initiatives, international programs, digital platforms, the Academy Screening Room, talent development and inclusion programs, the Academy Museum, the Margaret Herrick Library, the Science and Technology Council and the Academy Film Archive.

Woody Harrelson is in negotiations to lead the ensemble of “Sailing,” a new comedy musical by “Rock of Ages” creator Chris D’Arienzo, for Lionsgate.Taking place in the late seventies, the film will chronicle the adventures of a group of musicians as they make their way into the sounds and lifestyle of “yacht rock,” a variation of soft rock that came to prominence on FM radio during that era.Jeremy Plager, who worked with D’Arienzo to sell the pitch, will develop and produce with Harrelson and Megamix’s Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer as part of the production banner’s first-look deal with Lionsgate.“Everything about the yacht rock vibe, ethos and lifestyle will be brought on board this fun and hilarious nostalgic comedy,” said Lionsgate president of production Erin Westerman in a release. “We’re thrilled to be working with Jeremy, Jonathan, Gillian, Chris, and Woody, and we’re confident that it will not only have a phenomenal soundtrack, but it will also put you in a summertime mood.”Harrelson, who starred in last year’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” adds to a slate that includes “The Man From Toronto” opposite Kevin Hart and Cannes’ 2022 Palme d’Or winner “Triangle of Sadness.” Prior to “Rock of Ages,” D’Arienzo wrote “Jordeys,” “Hot,” and “Barry Munday,” which he also directed.

The upcoming edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival will host a retrospective of films from Ukrainian screenwriter, director and producer Sergei Loznitsa in recognition for his outstanding contribution to the art of film.
